4-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Departure is in the morning from Marrakech toward the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass, one of the most spectacular in the country. Along the way, you can admire Berber villages, mountain landscapes, and breathtaking views. You then reach the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its traditional architecture and for being the film set for many movies. After the visit, the journey continues toward Ouarzazate and the Rose Valley, until arriving in the Dades Valley, where you spend the night in a cozy hotel or riad with a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga
After breakfast, we continue toward the impressive Todra Gorges, a natural canyon with high rock walls, much appreciated for its beauty and tranquility. The journey continues through desert villages and oases to Erfoud, a city known for its fossils. In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Here begins the most anticipated experience of the tour: a camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes, enjoying the sunset that colors the sand in golden hues. The evening concludes with a typical dinner and a night in a desert tented camp, accompanied by Berber music under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
The day starts early to admire the magical sunrise in the desert, a silent and evocative moment. After breakfast, we return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and continue the journey westward, crossing the beautiful Draa Valley, famous for its long palm groves, fortified villages, and traditional kasbahs. This stretch offers an authentic look at rural life in southern Morocco. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “gateway to the desert,” where we have dinner and stay overnight in a hotel.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast, we leave Ouarzazate to return to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains once again. Panoramic stops are planned along the way to take photographs and admire the mountain landscapes.
